Elevate your meatballs! Puff pastry makes ordinary meatballs, extraordinary!
1 pkg. Puff Pastry
Favorite marinara or BBQ sauce
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 large egg, slightly beaten
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/3 cup breadcrumbs (can use seasoned Italian or panko)
1 tsp. garlic powder
1-2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. fresh ground black pepper
1/3 cup milk
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (or 2 tablespoons dried parsley)
2 Tbsp. melted butter
3-4 in. Hors D’oeuvre toothpicks
1 in. star cookie cutter
STEPS
-
Preheat oven to 400°F.
-
Simmer favorite marinara or BBQ sauce on low heat.
-
Mix all meatball ingredients, ground beef through parsley, together in a large bowl. Shape into small meatballs and drop into simmering sauce. Continue cooking in the simmering sauce for about 30-40 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through.
-
Unroll refrigerated Puff Pastry on enclosed parchment paper and place on a baking sheet. Using cookie cutter, cut star shapes. Remove any excess dough and space the stars out on the parchment paper.
-
Brush each star with melted butter and bake until golden brown (about 8-10 min.).
-
To assemble, warm up meatballs and sauce. Cover bottom of serving tray with desired sauce and add meatballs. Place puff pastry star topper on top of meatball & skewer with toothpick. Repeat for each meatball.
